The future of Altoona: City’s 30-month plan

For the first time since 2001, the city of Altoona is taking a serious, methodical look at its future land use. Under the Eau Claire County Multi-Jurisdictional Comprehensive Planning Project, which began in September 2006 and is mandated by state law, the city of Altoona and nine other in-county municipalities (Augusta, Fall Creek, Brunswick, Drammen, Otter Creek, Pleasant Valley, Seymour, and Washington) are simultaneously preparing detailed plans that will determine the county’s future use of residential, industrial, and commercial land.

Debate over Doyle’s smoke-free campaign

Governor Doyle is supporting Senate Bill 150, which would declare a total smoking ban in Wisconsin – all restaurants, bars, taverns, and bowling alleys would be smoke-free. Pedersen Elementary hosts annual Speed Rope Jump Contest

Memories of Altoona: Tricycle lessons

In a discussion about spoiled first-borns, I would have to agree, even though I am the oldest. As I look through the collection of pictures that Mom and Dad took after I was born, my cute little cherub face is in 90-95% of those pictures. What happened after the first five years of life, I will never understand. Thank goodness for my sense of humor, otherwise I might have a complex – at least regarding my cherub face.
