1. In your own words, please summarize the duties this position entails.
The main function of this office is to create the tax statements for all taxpayers in Eau Claire County. This office is the keeper of the financial records for all of the departments that make up the county structure. I am responsible for submitting reports and monies to the state treasurer’s office in a timely fashion. I also keep records of the payments that taxpayers have made in the last 15 years. I make daily deposits of revenue received by the county treasurer’s office and invest monies whenever needed.
2. What qualifies you to do this job?
Before being elected in November 1976, I was employed by First Wisconsin National Bank. At that time, I was the assistant manager of the university office. Within the financial background and bank record-keeping, it was a good combination for this job. I was enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire in the business accounting program.
3. What do you think no one else is running for this position?
I think that the position is quite overwhelming when someone takes a complete overview of the job. The ability to be very detailed and maintain accurate accounting procedures are a must, and not everyone is willing to work in that kind of an environment.

1. In your own words, please summarize the duties this position entails.
As to the duties of the register of deeds office, there are two major, mandated programs that are governed by state statutes with small programs running off of these. The first one is that we record, index, archive, and maintain all instruments pertaining to real estate (land records) authorized by law and collect the statutory fees. I also file the transfer forms with all land sales and forward them to department of revenue. We record, file, and keep permanent records of all certified survey maps, subdivision plats, condominium plats, and transportation project plats. We then issue copies of these recorded documents as requested and collect the required fee. Most all of our fees are set by the state statutes.

1. What do you consider to be the top three issues facing Americans in the November election and why?
The three most important issues facing Americans today are mounting national debt due to entitlements and runaway spending, the corresponding tax and regulation burden on productive Americans, and the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as American Jingoism around the globe.

1. What do you consider to be the top three issues facing Americans in the November election and why?
The biggest issue this year, even more than in 2006, is THE WAR. And it isn’t a war on terror. It isn’t a war on Iraq or Afghanistan. It’s a WAR ON OUR ECONOMY. It’s a war to the death against the American middle class. The neoconservatives and the international bankers behind them are bleeding our economy dry in their attempt to take over the world. They want a one-world global empire, and they are trying to use the U.S. military to create it. These people have absolutely no loyalty to the U.S.A. They want to turn us into just another Third World banana republic so we’ll be slaving for pennies along with the other peons on their New World Order global plantation.

Not all general election candidates’ positions are being contested by people in the same political parties. In fact, only two of them are being sought after by multiple people within the same party and therefore truly “up for grabs” in this partisan primary election.

1. What do you consider to be the top three issues facing Americans in the November election and why?
Energy costs, a sluggish economy, and a rising tax burden — these issues are the most important and are connected at the hip. If we can reduce gas prices and get state spending and taxes under control, we will grow our local economy.

1. What do you consider to be the top three issues facing Americans in the November election and why?
The three issues I choose are the state issues of illegal immigration, health care, and education. All fall within the debate of needs versus rights. The Soviet socialist system is based upon needs; the American system is based upon rights. Both cannot coexist; a thief has needs. No one seems to ask the question, “Why?” The proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things.
