Football had successful year

   The Altoona football team had a season to remember this fall, setting numerous offensive records with their new spread offense, while going 5-5 and earning a playoff berth for the fifth time in school history. The Railroaders tied for third place in the Cloverbelt Conference, just one year removed from a 2-7 season in which they tied for last.

Rails lose shootout

   Well, no one can say the Altoona seniors’ last football game was not memorable.
   It may be of little consolation at the moment, as the Railroaders’ season came to an end on Tuesday, October 28, with a 56-31 loss at Baldwin-Woodville, but Altoona shattered the record books with the most prolific passing day in school history as the two teams combined for 87 points and 948 yards of offense.

Football wins 26-13

   For awhile in the first half, it appeared neither Altoona nor Fall Creek would be able to stop the other team’s offense, as both teams rattled off long scoring drives on their first two possessions. But the Altoona football team forced fumbles on four of the Crickets’ next six possessions to win 26-13 on a windy night at Ron Schultz Field in Fall Creek on Thursday, October 23.

Football eligible for playoffs

   In a game that had a little bit of everything, the Altoona football team became eligible for the WIAA playoffs for the fifth time in school history, dominating the first half and surviving a wild, back-and-forth second half in a 30-26 win over Osseo-Fairchild on Senior Night at Fuzzy Thurston Field on Friday, October 17.

AHS football team looks to rebound after big loss

   The Altoona football team saw why the Colby Hornets are the undefeated leaders of the Cloverbelt Conference, as the Hornets piled up 439 yards of offense in a 54-0 rout of the Railroaders in Colby on Friday, October 10.

Railroaders defuse Rockets for big Homecoming win

   A week after recording its first shutout in four years, the Altoona football team did it again, dismantling Spencer/Columbus 41-0 to make for ahappy Homecoming at Fuzzy Thurston Field on Friday, October 3.

Football shuts out Neillsville

   Apparently, they were due.
   A week after breaking the school record with a 35th consecutive game without a shutout by allowing the second-most points in team history, the Altoona football team turned the tables, ending that streak with a dominant 39-0 victory over Neillsville at Fuzzy Thurston Field on Friday, September 26.

Rails fall 54-20, but Johnson ties TD record

Big plays lead to football team’s first win

   In its first two games this season, the Altoona football team’s defense had not allowed any scoring before halftime. The problem was the Railroader offense was unable to capitalize with any first-half points of its own.
